This page explains what we do with corrections, and exactly what a useful report contains, so that reports are actionable the moment intake is restored.

What Happens to a Correction

Corrections are not handled informally. When a data error is confirmed — whether we find it ourselves or a reader reports it — we correct the underlying dataset, re-run the full automated test suite that backs every formula, and update the "Last Updated" date on each affected calculator. Material corrections are noted on the calculator page itself. This process is described in full in our editorial policy.

We do not publish a guaranteed response time. With no verified intake channel currently open, any specific turnaround promise would be one we could not keep.

What a Useful Data-Error Report Contains

The single most valuable thing a report can include is a link to the official source showing the correct value. Nearly all of our data comes from primary government sources, and a correction can only be applied once it is traceable to one. A complete report includes:

• The page URL where the incorrect value appears
• The specific value shown, and the value you believe is correct
• A link to the authoritative source — the state revenue department, IRS, HUD, BLS, or DMV page that publishes the correct figure
• The effective date or tax year the correct value applies to, since many figures we publish are annual and change on a fixed schedule

Checking a Figure Yourself

You do not need to contact us to audit our numbers. Every calculator page names the source it draws from, links to the original document, and records the date that source was last reviewed. Our open-data catalog publishes the underlying national tables as downloadable CSV and JSON with their source records and verification dates, so any figure we publish can be checked against the primary document directly.

Privacy Requests

Newsletter signups are paused and no new email addresses are being collected. If you submitted an address before signups were paused and want it deleted, note that we cannot currently receive that request through this page. Our privacy policy describes exactly what was retained: an email address, a signup timestamp, and a status field — nothing else, never sold and never used for advertising.
