Information We Collect

StateCalc does not require registration or the creation of an account to use any calculator.

Calculator Inputs: All calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser. No calculation data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Email Address (newsletter signups paused): We are not currently accepting newsletter signups, and the site does not display an email collection form. Addresses submitted before signups were paused remain stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, a data-storage service operated by Cloudflare, Inc. (our hosting provider), acting as our data processor. We retain those prior records until the subscriber asks us to remove them. To have a previously submitted address deleted, or with any question about this data, contact us through the contact page. We do not sell those addresses or use them for advertising or ad personalization. The paused subscription endpoint does not read, log, or store submitted request bodies. We will not reopen signups until an email delivery system and working unsubscribe flow are in place.

Cookies, Local Storage, and Tracking

We use the following:

  • Essential / preference storage: Local storage used for core site functionality — for example, remembering your light/dark theme choice and your cookie-notice response. This is strictly necessary for the site to work as designed.
  • StateCalc first-party analytics: We send a small number of non-personalized usage events (including one page view per page load, calculator loads, and completed calculations) to our own backend to understand which tools are useful. For each event, we store only the event type, a calculator identifier where applicable, limited non-identifying event details, a normalized page pathname (never a full URL or raw query string), timestamp, and country. A publisher-pilot link may include one of 25 opaque campaign tokens; we retain that bounded token on its landing-page event, but never the publisher domain, full referrer, or other query parameters. We generate a random, pseudonymous identifier in first-party local storage and include it with each event so activity across tabs can be counted as one session; after 30 minutes without an event, the next event receives a new identifier. The identifier is also stored with the raw event on our Cloudflare D1 database or temporary KV fallback. KV records expire after 90 days; every later D1 analytics write deletes raw D1 events older than 90 days using the recorded date. Longer-lived daily aggregates contain counts, not session identifiers or paths. The identifier is not derived from your IP address, browser fingerprint, email address, search text, or calculator inputs. We do not store IP addresses, referrer URLs, search text, email addresses, or calculator inputs in these events, and we never sell them. Choosing "Reject" removes the browser's current identifier and stops future StateCalc events.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: If you choose "Accept," we load Cloudflare's analytics beacon. Cloudflare may process the page path, referrer, country, browser, operating system, and device category on our behalf to provide aggregate traffic reports. The beacon is not loaded on later page views after you choose "Reject." Cloudflare is our analytics and hosting processor; this preference is separate from Google's advertising-consent controls.
  • Google advertising cookies: This site runs Google AdSense (including Google's "Auto ads" automatic placement). Google — not this site's own cookie notice — manages ad-related consent directly, showing its own consent message where legally required (e.g. EEA/UK/Switzerland) and controlling whether ad personalization cookies are set. Our own cookie notice's Accept/Reject choice does not control Google's ad cookies; see "Third-Party Advertising" below for how to manage those directly.

Third-Party Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements through Google's automatic "Auto ads" placement and manually placed responsive ad units in reserved layout containers. We choose where our manual ad units appear; Google serves and manages the ads shown in both types of placement. Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet, subject to your consent choices where required by law and to Google's own published policies. Before any Google ad tag loads, this site sets Google's default "Consent Mode" signals to denied for ad storage/personalization; those signals are only updated by Google's own consent message, never by our custom cookie notice. You can review or change your Google ad-personalization settings at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how Google uses data at Google's Partner Sites policy.

Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

Data Security

Calculator inputs never leave your browser, so there is no server-side risk for that data. The only personal data we retain is email addresses submitted before newsletter signups were paused. Those records are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, protected by Cloudflare's infrastructure security, and are never used for advertising or shared with data brokers. Our site is served over HTTPS.

Children's Privacy

StateCalc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
