ESPP calculator: estimate tax on a share sale

The ESPP tax calculator estimates ordinary income, capital gain or loss, tax and after-tax proceeds for a U.S. Section 423 plan. Enter the offering, purchase and sale prices and select the disposition. The IRS explains that tax treatment depends on when the shares are sold: Publication 525.

ISO tax calculator and ISO AMT calculator

Use the ISO vs. NSO calculator to estimate exercise tax, or the AMT calculator to include other adjustments. An ISO exercise generally creates an AMT adjustment even though it does not create regular taxable income at exercise; see the IRS Form 6251 instructions. The exercise comparison does not estimate tax on a later sale.

Non-qualified stock options tax calculator

The exercise comparison estimates income tax and payroll tax on the NSO spread using your inputs. Its estimate assumes the shares are vested at exercise; the IRS describes how vesting affects income from nonstatutory options in Publication 525.
