Estimate only — these are not official figures

The weekly benefit applies Delaware's exact statutory formula, cited in the methodology and sources, so it matches the law when the wages you enter are accurate. The page is still labeled an estimate because its monthly figure (the weekly amount times 4.33) is not an amount the state pays and only the state agency can decide whether you qualify. The maximum weekly benefit ($450) and duration (26 weeks) come from published sources.

Do not rely on these amounts for budgeting or payment. For exact amounts, check the Delaware state unemployment insurance agency (file there and use its official benefits estimator for your actual Weekly Benefit Amount determination).

How This Calculator Works

Calculation methodology and assumptions

Delaware adds up the wages from the two best quarters of your base period and divides by 46, dropping any cents (19 Del. C. §3313(t), for benefit years from April 2, 2023). The statute sets the floor at $20 and the ceiling at $450; both are dollar figures in the statute, not indexed to wages. The whole claim pays the lesser of 26 weekly amounts or half of your total base-period wages, rounded down (§3313(o)), so people with little work outside their two best quarters can exhaust before week 26. Delaware pays no dependents' allowance. The calculator does not apply the qualifying requirement (base-period wages of at least 36 times the weekly amount) or the earnings deduction for part-time weeks.

Key State Information

Delaware's divisor of 46 pays about 56.5% of an average week in the two best quarters (26 weeks divided by 46), until the $450 cap. The half-of-wages limit is the one to watch: $10,000 in the two best quarters and nothing in the other two gives $217 a week, but only $5,000 over the claim, about 24 weeks.

Example Calculation

Let's review the inputs that set unemployment benefits in Delaware.

Delaware uses its own benefit formula from state law rather than a general 50%-of-wage estimate. Enter the exact quarter/base-period wage and eligibility fields requested by the calculator; the required inputs differ by state and cannot be reconstructed safely from median household income.

Result: Published maximum weekly amount: $450. Current maximum duration: 26 weeks. These are ceilings, not a typical award; the calculator above applies Delaware's source-backed formula to your own wage history, and only the state agency determines eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Delaware weekly benefit figured?

Divide your two highest quarters' combined wages by 46. $15,000 across those quarters gives $326 a week; $20,700 or more hits the $450 maximum (19 Del. C. §3313(t)).

How long do Delaware benefits last?

Up to 26 weeks, capped at half your base-period wages. With $28,000 in the base period the cap is $8,476 at $326 a week (§3313(o)).

Can dependents raise a Delaware claim?

No. The statute has no dependents' allowance.
