Minnesota Unemployment Benefits Calculator
Estimate your Minnesota unemployment benefits. Max weekly: $948. Max weeks: 26. Free calculator.
Estimate only — these are not official figures
The weekly benefit applies Minnesota's exact statutory formula cited in the methodology and source, so the weekly amount is statute-grade GIVEN accurate wage inputs. It is declared modeled (not "Fact-checked") only because the page also outputs a derived monthly figure (weekly x 4.33, a non-statutory convention) and the tool does not perform the agency's monetary-eligibility determination. The maximum weekly benefit ($948) and duration (26 weeks) are source-backed.
Do not rely on these amounts for budgeting or payment. For exact amounts, check the Minnesota's state unemployment insurance agency (file there and use its official benefits estimator for your actual Weekly Benefit Amount determination).

How This Calculator Works
Calculation methodology and assumptions
Minnesota calculates your Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA) as the HIGHER of two formulas (Minn. Stat. §268.07 subd. 2a): (1) 50% of your highest-earning quarter's wages ÷ 13, capped at 43% of the state's average weekly wage (SAWW); or (2) 50% of your total base-period wages ÷ 52, capped at 66-2/3% of SAWW. DEED currently publishes a $948 maximum for benefit accounts established 2025-10-26 through 2026-10-24, back-solving SAWW as $1,422 and the other branch cap as $611. Neither statute states a rounding rule for the raw branch result, so this calculator floors it as a disclosed convention. DOL's published $37 “minimum” is the result at Minnesota's minimum qualifying wage credits, not a statutory WBA floor; this calculator does not determine eligibility. Minnesota pays no dependent allowance. Your maximum total benefit is the whole-dollar lesser of one-third of base-period wages or 26 times WBA.
Key State Information
Minnesota's maximum weekly UI benefit is $948 for benefit accounts established 2025-10-26 through 2026-10-24. DOL's $37 minimum is the formula result at the qualifying-wage threshold, not a benefit floor. There is no dependent allowance. Standard duration is 9-26 weeks for eligible claims.
Example Calculation
Let's review the source-backed unemployment inputs for Minnesota.
Minnesota uses a state-specific statutory formula rather than the site's simplified 50%-of-wage fallback. Enter the exact quarter/base-period wage and eligibility fields requested by the calculator; the required inputs differ by state and cannot be reconstructed safely from median household income.
Result: Published maximum weekly amount: $948. Current maximum duration: 26 weeks. These are ceilings, not a typical award; the calculator above applies Minnesota's source-backed formula to your own wage history, and only the state agency determines eligibility.

Our editorial standardsFrequently Asked Questions
How much is unemployment in Minnesota?
Minnesota pays the higher of two formulas — 50% of your highest quarter's wages ÷ 13 or 50% of total base-period wages ÷ 52 — capped at $611 and $948 respectively for accounts established 2025-10-26 through 2026-10-24. DOL's $37 minimum corresponds to the qualifying-wage threshold rather than a benefit floor. The example inputs produce about $538/week.
Does Minnesota pay extra for dependents?
No. Minnesota UI does not pay a dependent allowance.
How long do Minnesota unemployment benefits last?
9 to 26 weeks, capped at the lesser of one-third of your total base-period wages or 26 times your weekly benefit amount.
