Estimate only — these are not official figures

The weekly benefit applies Idaho's exact statutory formula, cited in the methodology and sources, so it matches the law when the wages you enter are accurate. The page is still labeled an estimate because its monthly figure (the weekly amount times 4.33) is not an amount the state pays and only the state agency can decide whether you qualify. The maximum weekly benefit ($624) and duration (26 weeks) come from published sources.

Do not rely on these amounts for budgeting or payment. For exact amounts, check the Idaho state unemployment insurance agency (file there and use its official benefits estimator for your actual Weekly Benefit Amount determination).

How This Calculator Works

Calculation methodology and assumptions

Idaho pays one twenty-sixth of the wages in your best base-period quarter each week, dropped to a whole dollar, up to a maximum of 55 percent of the state's average weekly wage for the year before (Idaho Code 72-1367(2)). That maximum takes effect for new claims filed from the first full week of each January, so the calculator asks for it and starts from the $624 the U.S. Department of Labor lists in its July 2026 table. To qualify, one quarter must pay at least $1,872 (half of the state minimum wage times 520 hours, rounded down to a multiple of 26) and the whole base period at least 1.25 times that best quarter (72-1367(1)). The number of weeks is not a flat 26: Idaho reads it from a table by the ratio of base-period wages to the best quarter, from 1.25 up to 4.00, and by the state's forecast unemployment rate, from 10 to 26 weeks (72-1367(3)). The calculator asks which rate column applies and starts at the lowest-rate column, which pays the fewest weeks; your monetary determination shows the weeks that apply to you. Part-time earnings above half the weekly amount reduce that week's payment (72-1367(4)); that deduction and the separation and work-search tests are not applied here. Idaho pays no dependents' allowance.

Key State Information

Idaho rewards steady work across the year rather than one good quarter: $9,100 in the best quarter pays $350 a week either way, but $34,000 for the base period (a ratio of about 3.74) allows 20 weeks at the lowest-rate column, while $15,000 (about 1.65) allows only 10. At the highest-rate column the steady earner could draw 26 weeks, $9,100 in all.

Example Calculation

Let's review the inputs that set unemployment benefits in Idaho.

Idaho uses its own benefit formula from state law rather than a general 50%-of-wage estimate. Enter the exact quarter/base-period wage and eligibility fields requested by the calculator; the required inputs differ by state and cannot be reconstructed safely from median household income.

Result: Published maximum weekly amount: $624. Current maximum duration: 26 weeks. These are ceilings, not a typical award; the calculator above applies Idaho's source-backed formula to your own wage history, and only the state agency determines eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Idaho weekly unemployment amount calculated?

Divide your best base-period quarter by 26: $9,100 gives $350 a week, up to the maximum set each January ($624 in the July 2026 DOL table) (Idaho Code 72-1367(2)).

How many weeks of unemployment does Idaho pay?

Between 10 and 26. The statute's table uses the ratio of your base-period wages to your best quarter and the state's forecast unemployment rate: $34,000 over a $9,100 best quarter allows 20 weeks when the rate is 2.9% or lower and 26 at 8% or higher (72-1367(3)).

What is the least I must have earned in Idaho?

At least $1,872 in one base-period quarter, and total base-period wages of at least 1.25 times your best quarter (72-1367(1)).
